CSBS is committed to providing safety to our participants

We pride ourselves on going above and beyond to ensure our support workers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care. From NDIS worker screening to specialised training programs, we prioritise compliance and professional development to maintain the highest standards of service.

NDIS Worker Screening Check

From 1 February 2021, workers providing, or seeking to provide supports to people with disability will be assessed against identified risk factors for their role/s, and cleared or excluded from working for an NDIS provider.

The assessments, conducted by the NDIS Worker Screening Unit (Queensland), will ensure that only cleared workers can be employed in risk assessed roles by NDIS providers.

Existing workers who already have a pre-existing Positive Notice Yellow Card (working with people with disability), and / or a Positive Notice Blue Card (working with children or young people), will have their positive notice status honoured until such time as their card/s expire – after which time, each worker must re-apply and be re-assessed by the NDIS Worker Screening Unit and cleared for future employment.

NDIS Worker Orientation Module

The NDIS Worker Orientation Module, ‘Quality, Safety and You’, is a 90 minute online interactive learning course that is mandatory for all workers delivering supports and services under the NDIS.

The module covers workers’ obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct and is delivered by NDIS Participants.

We have included the four module course as part of our I-induct suite of training modules, and once complete, each worker will receive a certificate of completion.

I-induct modules

In addition to the NDIS Worker Orientation Module, our workers complete a seven module online induction program that includes:

  • Welcome and Introduction to CSBS
  • NDIS Standards and Quality
  • CSBS Practice Framework
  • Work Health and Safety
  • Workplace Behaviours
  • Participant Support and Care
  • Medication

MAYBO

(specialised behaviour support training for support workers and service managers)

MAYBO is a specialised training program for workers providing direct supports to people with disability with positive behaviour support needs.

The training covers positive approaches to managing behaviours of concern, giving workers a toolbox from which to draw the skills to de-escalate situations and behaviours.

Our workers complete the MAYBO theoretical component every two years, and the physical component every 12 months.

Managing authorised Restrictive Practices

All our workers who support Participants with an authorised restrictive practice/s are trained and understand the Queensland Government, and the NDIS requirements for reporting the unauthorised use, and emergency use of restrictive practices.

Our learning organisation

Workforce development opportunities are directly linked to our workers’ six monthly performance review, where opportunities in and outside of CSBS are identified and accessed to build individual and team competence and capacity.
