The new NDIS laws were officially approved on September 5th, 2024. These changes will start to take effect on October 3rd, 2024.

Some changes will happen right away in October, but others will be introduced gradually as they’re planned and put in place.

The NDIS has provided the below changes which will take affect on October 3rd.

  • There will be new rules about what you can and can’t spend your NDIS money on. The details are still being worked but we have been told to expect to know more before October 3rd.
  • In some cases, you might be able to use your NDIS money for something that isn’t normally covered. The NDIS will be updating this with more specific information soon.
  • The NDIS has advised that if you accidentally spend your NDIS money on something that’s not allowed, they’ll help you understand the new rules and get the right support.
